After teaching English for the Peace Corps in Korea, Doug joined the U.S. Foreign Service and subsequently volunteered to study Chinese. He then worked in Shanghai and Beijing as a U.S. diplomat for four years, and since has continued his involvement with Chinese for the past four decades. Doug has been a member of the American Translators’ Association (ATA) since 2008, wherein he serves as a founding member of the Chinese-to-English Work Group and a grader for the Chi>Eng Certification Exam.
